Ingredients:
Narthangai (Citron) – 1, washed, peeled, chopped
Coriander Seeds – 3 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Bengal Gram – 1 tsp
White Sesame Seeds – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chillies – 3
Turmeric Powder – a small pinch
Jaggery – a small piece
Gingelly Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Tamarind Extract – 1 cup
Asafoetida – little
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Dry roast the sesame seeds and keep aside.
2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.
3. Roast the coriander seeds, bengal gram, urad dal, dry chillies and grind together with sesame seeds to a fine powder.
4. Heat 1 tsp oil and fry the mustard seeds.
5. Once it starts to splutter, add the narthangai and stir.
6. Add tamarind extract, turmeric powder, salt and ground powder.
7. Add jaggery and mix well.
8. Bring to a boil.
9. Serve hot with rice.
