Ingredients:
Rahu Fish – 6 pieces
Mustard Oil for deep frying
Salt as per taste
Tomatoes – 1 cup, chopped
Tomato Puree – 1/2 cup
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Green Mango Paste – 3 tsp
Onion Paste – 1/2 cup
Curry Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
For the Marinade:
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Ginger Paste – 2 tsp
Green Chilli Paste – 2 tsp
Method:
1. To prepare the green mango paste, take a green mango weighing 300 gm and remove the peel and the middle portion.
2. Cut into small pieces and grind to a paste.
3. Marinate with fish pieces with all the ingredients for the marinade and keep aside for 10 minutes.
4. Deep fry or pan-fry in mustard oil till the fish pieces are golden brown in colour.
5. Turn both the sides so that the fish pieces are cooked but not over crispy.
6. Drain and keep aside.
7. In the same pan leave 2 to 3 tsp oil and fry the onions till translucent.
8. Mix in the tomatoes, green mango paste, ginger-garlic paste and the spices.
9. Fry for 1 minute.
10. Mix in 1 cup water and bring to a boil.
11. Lower the heat and mix in the fish pieces and continue to boil on low fire for another 2 to 3 minutes.
12. Serve with plain rice.
