Ingredients

  • 750 gms White Fish (cooked in boiling water and cut into pieces)
  • 2 Carrots (sliced)
  • 75 gms Butter
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Curry Powder
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • 75 gms Green Peas (cooked)
  • 3/4 kg Potatoes (peeled and cooked in salted water)
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves
  • 5 tbsp Milk
  • 50 gms Cheese (grated)
  • 1 Egg Yolk - 1
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  • Reserve the water in which fish was cooked.
  • Melt the butter in a pan.
  • Add the onion and curry powder.
  • Fry till onions become soft.
  • Add the flour and stir over low heat.
  • Remove pan from heat and add 1 1/2 cups of fish stock gently till well blended.
  • Add carrots, peas, salt and pepper.
  • Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Add the fish pieces with the coriander leaves.
  • Pour into an 8 inch pie dish.
  • Mash the potatoes well.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add milk and grated cheese. Mix well.
  • Spread this mashed potato mixture over the fish filling.
  • Beat egg yolk with a little water and brush the top of the potato mixture.
  • Bake in a moderate oven till the top turns golden brown.
  • Remove and serve.
