Ingredients:
Masoor Dal – 500 gms
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Garlic – 2 tsp, ground
Ginger – 2 tsp, ground
Curry Leaves – 5 to 6
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander Leaves – 1 bunch
Tamarind Pulp – 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Green Chillies – 3 to 4, chopped
For Seasoning:
Oil – 2 tblsp
Red Chillies – 4 to 6
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Garlic Cloves – 6 to 7
Curry Leaves – few
Method:
1. Wash and soak the dal for an hour.
2. Boil in 4 cups of water with chilli powder, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, turmeric powder and coriander leaves till completely soft.
3. Mash to a smooth paste.
4. Ad tamarind pulp, salt, green chillies and cook to make a thick gravy.
5. Add water if required.
6. Heat oil and fry the seasoning till brown.
7. Add it to the dal.
8. Serve hot with rice.
