South Indian Fish Curry

Ingredients:
Fish – 200 gms
Tamarind Pulp – 1/4 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 8
Onion – 100 gms
Garlic – 4 to 5 flakes
Chilli Powder – 3 tsp
Tomatoes – 1
Gingerly Oil – 2 tsp
Jaggery (optional)
Cumin – 1 tsp
Mustard – 1 tsp
Methi – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Curry leaves

Method:
1. Mix tamarind pulp with chilli powder and turmeric powder.
2. Slice onion, tomatoes and green chillies.
3. Heat oil and temper with mustard and methi.
4. Seers the fish on both sides and remove.
5. Add onion and saute till golden brown.
6. Add ginger, green chillies and fry.
7. Add chopped tomatoes and mix with onion, pour tamarind pulp and simmer.
8. Add crushed cumin and pepper.
9. Place the fish and cook gently till done.
10. Garnish with fried curry leaves.
11. Serve with boiled rice, appam or uthappam.
