Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fish
  • 1 cup Small Onions
  • 1 cup Tomato
  • Curry Leaves (few)
  • 4 to 5 Green Chillies
  • 1 cup Tamarind Extract
  • 3 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 3 tsp Dhaniya Powder
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Gingelly Oil (as required)
  • 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
  • 1 cup Coconut (ground)
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 2 to 3 flakes Garlic
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek Seeds

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, curry leaves, and onions. Fry for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic and mix well.
  • Combine tamarind extract, 1 tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and dhania powder. Add this to the pan and let it boil.
  • Add salt.
  • Marinate fish with 1 tsp turmeric powder and salt in a separate bowl. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Add the ground coconut to the pan.
  • After 2 to 3 minutes, introduce the marinated fish pieces.
  • Let the gravy simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot.
