Ingredients:
Bengal Gram Dal – 300 gms
Onion – 200 gms
Green Chillies – 3
Tomatoes – 150 gms
Cinnamon – 3 sticks
Cloves – 3
Mint Leaves – 1/2 bunch
Chilli Powder – 4 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 250 ml
Ginger – 1 one inch piece
Garlic – 2 to 3 cloves
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Soak and grind Bengal gram dal.
2. Keep a kadai over moderate flame add oil.
3. When it becomes hot, add small vadas of ground dhal and fry till half done.
4. Keep it aside.
5. Add garam masala, chopped onion to the kadai and fry till it becomes golden brown in colour.
6. Add chopped tomatoes and fry well.
7. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and saute well.
8. Add water and cook till the raw flavour goes off.
9. Add the fried the vadas.
10. Garnish with mint leaves and coriander leaves.
11. When it becomes a thick gravy, remove from flame.
12. Serve hot with idli or dosa.
