Chicken and Mushroom Quiche is a dish that has a pastry crust and an egg chicken-mushroom filling. It is usually baked in an oven and served hot. The filling of the quiche can be made with either vegetables, meat or cheese.
The quiche was originally a savory dish made of eggs and cream or milk which was thought to have derived from the French “quiche” meaning “casserole”. The dish is also found in other countries like Portugal, Italy, and Greece.
Chicken and Mushroom Quiche
Ingredients
For the Pastry:
- 1 cup Maida (Plain Flour)
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- as per taste Salt
For the Filling:
- 1 cup Chicken Pieces shredded and boiled
- 2 to 3 Mushrooms cut into small pieces
- 1 Tomato seeds removed and cut into small pieces
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 2 Eggs
- as per taste Salt
Instructions
- To prepare the filling, beat the eggs and add all the ingredients and keep aside.
- Knead all the ingredients for the pastry into a dough.
- Add as little water to form the dough.
- Roll out into a circle and fit a pastry mould so that the sides are covered nicely.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 7-8 minutes at 160C.
- Remove and add the filling and return to the oven and bake again till the filling sets.
- Serve hot.
