Ingredients:
Tomatoes – 5, chopped
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Chilli Powder – 1 to 2 tsp
Dhaniya Powder – 1 tsp
Small Onions – handful, peeled
Green Chillies – few
Tamarind Water – 1 cup
Sambar Powder – 1 to 2 tsp
To make Sambar Powder:
Bengal Gram – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Method:
1. Fry the sambar powder ingredients without oil and grind it to make a fine powder.
2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds.
3. Once the mustard seeds splutter, add the chopped tomatoes and fry.
4. After a minute, add the green chillies, dhaniya powder and chilli powder.
5. Fry for a minute more and then add the small onions.
6. Let it fry for another 30 seconds and then add the tamarind water.
7. Add the sambar powder and salt.
8. Simmer for some time on low heat till it becomes little thick.
9. Garnish with curry leaves.
10. Serve with rice.
