Ingredients:
Split Bengal Gram – 1 cup
Split Black Gram – 1/2 cup
Black Cardamoms – 3
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Clarified Butter – 1/2 cup
Onion – 1/2 cup, chopped
Garlic – 2 tsp, chopped
Tomatoes – 1 cup, chopped
Red Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
Ginger – 3 tsp, chopped
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 5, chopped
Green Coriander – 2 tbsp, chopped
Method:
1. Boil the split bengal gram and black gram in 3 cups of water with black cardamoms, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt.
2. Cook till tender.
3. Keep aside.
4. Heat the clarified butter in a kadai, add the onions and garlic and fry till light brown.
5. Add the remaining ingredients (except green coriander).
6. Cook till the tomatoes turn soft.
7. Add this to the split Bengal gram mixture.
8. Mix well.
9. Serve hot, garnished with green coriander.
