A creative fusion dish that combines the beloved Indian samosa with a sandwich format. This recipe transforms regular bread into a crispy, golden-brown treat filled with spiced potatoes, tangy chutneys, and ketchup. It's easier to make than traditional samosas but just as tasty.

Bread Samosa Sandwich is my go-to recipe when I want the flavors of samosa without the fuss of making traditional pastry dough. I stumbled upon this idea during a busy weeknight when I craved samosas but didn’t have time for the usual prep. The bread works perfectly as a wrapper, getting crispy on the outside while staying soft inside. The layers of spiced potatoes, green chutney, and ketchup create amazing flavor combinations in every bite.

About the Recipe

This recipe puts a new spin on both samosas and sandwiches. The bread makes it much quicker than traditional samosas, while the filling stays authentic with spiced potatoes and classic Indian seasonings. It’s perfect for snacks, parties, or a fun weekend lunch. Kids love it because it’s crunchy and familiar, while adults enjoy the traditional samosa flavors.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You’ll love how simple ingredients create such a tasty treat. The outer bread gets golden and crunchy while frying, and each bite gives you different flavors – from the spicy potato filling to the zingy green chutney and sweet ketchup. It’s also super flexible – you can adjust the spice levels to your taste. Plus, it’s a great way to use leftover bread and potatoes.

Makes 6 sandwiches (12 pieces when cut). Total prep time: 45 minutes. Serve hot with extra green chutney or ketchup. Best eaten fresh, but you can store the unfried assembled sandwiches in the fridge for up to 4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bake these instead of frying?

Yes. Brush with oil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. They won’t be as crispy as fried ones but still taste great.

Can I make the potato filling ahead?

The potato filling stays good in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just bring it to room temperature before using.

How spicy is this recipe?

The spice level is medium but easily adjustable. Reduce or skip the green chilies and red chili powder for a milder version.
