Ingredients:
Mutton – 1 kg
Chilli Powder – 2 tblsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Ginger – 1 tsp, sliced
Garlic Cloves – 1 tsp
Vinegar – 1 1/2 tblsp
Refined Vegetable Oil – 1/2 cup
Onion – 2 cups, finely sliced
Ripe Tomatoes – 250 gms, finely chopped
Salt to taste
Hot Water – 3 cups
Method:
1. Wash and clean the mutton.
2. Cut into medium size pieces.
3. Grind chilli powder, coriander powder, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, ginger and garlic cloves with vinegar to a paste.
4. Heat oil, saute sliced onions and add chopped tomatoes.
5. Fry well and add the ground paste.
6. Fry on low flame till the oil rises to the surface.
7. Add the meat pieces and salt. Mix well.
8. Add 3 cups of hot water to cook the meat.
9. Cover the vessel with a deep lid containing boiling water. This will help the meat to cook well.
10. Keep on low heat and simmer until the gravy starts thickening.
11. Once the meat is cooked, remove from heat.
12. Serve warm.
