Ingredients:
Raw Papaya – 1 small
Green Gram – 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 1, large, chopped
Tomato – 1, large, chopped
Coriander Leaves – 1 tblsp, chopped
Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs
Juice of 1 Lemon
Oil – 2 tblsp
Salt to taste
Grind to Paste:
Coconut – 4 tblsp, grated
Peppercorns – few
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 3 to 4
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Garlic – 5 to 6 cloves
Garam Masala – a pinch
Method:
1. Cut papaya into cubes, cook with some salt and set aside.
2. Soak green grams for 2 to 3 hours, boil with a pinch of turmeric powder. Keep separate.
3. Heat oil, add curry leaves and onion, fry till browned adding 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
4. Add ground paste and tomatoes, stir fry till oil surfaces.
5. Add cooked vegetable, dal and some salt.
6. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, adding some water if mixture is too thick.
7. Remove vegetable from fire, add chopped coriander leaves and lime juice, mix thoroughly.
8. Serve with rotis.
