Ingredients:
Oil – 1/2 cup
Suji (Semolina) – 1 cup
Water – 2 cups
Ginger – 1 tsp, chopped
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Ural dal dhuli – 1 tsp
Green chillies – 1 tbsp, chopped
Red chili whole – 2
Onion – 1, chopped
Salt to taste
Curry leaves – 8 to 10
Coconut – 15 gms, grated
Carrots – 4 tsp, chopped
Green peas – 2 tsp, boiled
Method:
1. Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds to it.
2. When the mustard seeds begin to pop, add the chana dal, urad dal and chopped onions.
3. Cook the onions till they are semi transparent and then add the suji and fry.
4. Now add green chillies, ginger and curry leaves and cook for a while.
5. Then add green peas, chopped carrot and salt.
6. Finally add the water and cook.
7. Place the upma into a bowl and garnish with chopped onions.
8. Serve with coconut chutney.
