Ingredients:
Tuvar dal – 1 cup
Spinach – 3 to 4 bunches
Tomato – 1 cup, sliced
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Garlic – 3 to 4 flakes
Onion – 1, sliced
Curry leaves – 10 to 15, optional
Coriander – 1 bunch
Asafoetida – a pinch
Red chilli powder – 1 to 2 tsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Fenugreek – 5 to 6
Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
Dry red chillies – 2 to 3
Water as required
Method:
1. In a pressure cooker, add water, tuvar dal, spinach, fenugreek, garlic, a little coriander, one whole tomato, one onion sliced, asafoetida and close the cooker.
2. Cook until the dal is soft for about 5 to 5 minutes.
3. Mash this cooked mixture lightly.
4. Add salt and chilli powder, cook on a low flame.
5. Add turmeric and half of the curry leaves.
6. In a saucepan, heat a little oil, add the remaining garlic and curry leaves, add dry red chillies and coriander seeds.
7. When the oil is hot add it to the dal. Allow it to stand for a few minutes.
