  • 1/4 cup Cumin Seeds
  • 2 cups Tamarind Extract
  • 2 Onions (chopped, sliced)

  • 1 tbsp Jaggery

  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves - a few

  • Dry roast cumin seeds for a minute and grind to a fine powder.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Fry mustard seeds for 30 seconds.
  • Add fenugreek seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Fry for 45 to 60 seconds.
  • Add onions and garlic. Sauté for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder and sambar powder.
  • Pour tamarind extract and simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Add cumin powder and salt.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the flame.
