Ingredients

  • 1 kg Mutton (boneless)
  • 125 gms Channa Dal (soaked overnight)
  • 100 gms Whole Wheat (soaked overnight)
  • 25 gms Barley (soaked overnight)
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder (1/2 tsp)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (+ 1/8 tsp)
  • 1/2 Bay Leaf
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 4 to 5 tbsp Onions (fried)

For Garnish:

  • Fried Onion Rings
  • Garam Masala Powder
  • Lime Slices
  • Green Chillies
  • Ginger Slices
  • Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
  • Add mutton pieces and fry for a minute.
  • Add 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, bay leaf, and salt.
  • Pour in 3 to 4 cups of water, reduce flame, cover, and simmer until the mutton is tender.
  • In another pan, add soaked channa dal, whole Wheat, and barley with salt, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, and 1/8 tsp turmeric powder.
  • Add water and cook until soft.
  • Transfer the cooked grains and lentils to the mutton pan and simmer on a very low flame.
  • Mash the mixture well and mix thoroughly.
  • Once it starts to boil, add fried onions.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle garam masala on top.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves, green chillies, fried onions, sliced ginger, and lime slices.
