Who is behind the website? I am Praveen Kumar, from Chennai, India. I have always had a passion for food right from my school days. At that time the school canteen (cafeteria) was run by the commerce students of 11th and 12th grade with the help of the accounts teacher. I was always available to be a part of the team that ran the canteen during the lunch break. This was during 1995 to 1997.
In 2002, I moved to England to pursue my post graduation and luck would have it that I was reunited with food once again. I took up a part-time job in Greggs (a very popular British bakery chain). In a few weeks, my part-time became a full time role and there I was happily enjoying my stint in retail food and being in the thick and thin of what I loved to do.
In 2006, I moved back to India and started my professional career in digital marketing, SEO and content. I was employed by a leading Internet company in Chennai and I played a part in setting up the food website for the company. Eventually, I decided to create something on my own and that’s when the idea for Awesome Cuisine was born. In 2007-08, I set up the website turn my love for food and cooking into a blog where I could share my new found recipes and other kitchen escapades.
Since then, the website has grown leaps and bounds into a huge collection of recipes across 150+ categories.
The basic premise of Awesome Cuisine is simple – make recipes simple and easy for anyone to cook. To that extent, I try to provide detailed step-by-step instructions to help create a delicious meal at home.
From it’s humble beginnings, the website now has a wide variety of dishes from different parts of India and from different cuisines. Over the years, I have had help from several people who have contributed recipes to the website.
In 2015, the website won the best “Urban Chennai Blog Award”. That’s me (on the left) – Winner of Urban Chennai Blog Award in 2015
