Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different cut of chicken?
While chicken wings work best with this recipe, you could try chicken drumsticks or thighs as well. Just adjust the baking time as needed until the chicken is fully cooked through.
How can I make these wings extra crispy?
For maximum crispiness, pat the wings very dry before baking. You can also toss them in a little baking powder or corn starch to help draw out moisture. And be sure to bake at a high temp of 400°F.
The sauce looks thin, is that right?
Yes, this sauce has more of a liquid consistency compared to a thick barbecue sauce. It’s the perfect coating for baked wings to get that sticky, lacquered finish.
Can I make this sauce ahead of time?
Without a doubt. The sauce can be made up to 5 days in advance and stored covered in the fridge. Give it a good stir before using.
What side dishes pair well with these wings?
Honey barbecue wings go great with classic sides like celery and carrot sticks, ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping. They’re also tasty with a fresh salad, corn on the cob, or baked fries or onion rings.
